I guess I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed so a little item set me off this morning. I was listening to the news on the radio and heard about an Obama rally in Bristol TN (I think, I was still half asleep). The station ran a piece of an interview with a lady who said something along the lines of the following: “I was in middle school when JFK was elected (Camelot again). I can’t remember another time when I felt so good about the possibility of change”. Just so everyone is clear this in not an exact quote but I am fairly sure it is close.
The specific item that made my blood boil is the whole concept of feeling good. What has happened to logic and reason in making decisions? I am sick and tired of liberals getting a free pass based on idealism versus results. If I tell my boss I am trying as hard as I can and I have the best intentions but I don’t produce I will be fired. However when a liberal says I am trying to help the poor, the children, the elderly, the under privileged, the environment and so on they are judged strictly on intentions not the end results. Why do we continue to let this happen?
As a staunch conservative I truly believe in limited government and especially lower taxes. Never once have I tried to kill a child or an old person nor do I intend too. I believe in conservation just not at the cost of progress. I believe in the power of the individual to succeed and make the right choices. I believe in the power of churches and local organizations to take care of their own (if the federal government would give the power and money back to the local folks and individuals to do that). I do not believe that the government was every intended to or should be in the business of taking care of me or anyone else. The government was put in place to primarily protect freedom by providing national defense (a strong military the one thing liberals think the government shouldn’t do).
We need to run rapidly away from the whole concept of sending our hard earned wages to liberals under the umbrella of helping people. We need to put our foot down to socialized medicine. We need to put our foot down to socialized retirement (social insecurity as I refer to it). We need to put our foot down to socialized welfare. We need to put our foot down to social engineering (homosexual marriages, legalized abortion, etc.). We just need to put our foot down to rampant liberalism. Wake up before we become a completely socialized country where your only freedom is those which the Obamas of the world will allow you to have. Wake up before it’s too late. God Bless America.

Faced with liberal indignation, Republicans have a history of backing down, apologizing, quitting, whatever. I made an RFK, Hillary Clinton assassination joke this morning (remember that's why she's staying in the race, after all), and I stand by it. It may not be funny, but it's my joke and it's not going anywhere.
This site is not politically correct, and it doesn't pander to liberal emotions. Get used to it.

The most recent news has Caroline Kennedy as a possible running mate (correction: as helping find a running mate) for Obama. I nearly did cartwheels (which would of course have landed me in the hospital) when this story crossed my path. We have them on the run folks. God Bless America

According to reports from Fox and Friends First, she has been encouraged to end the race by Charlie Rangel and Barnie Frank. Side note: Can you imagine being a part of a party in which you are expected to take the advice of these two seriously?

In much more wonderful news, a new oil refinery might actually be built in the U.S. thanks to the amazing voters of Elk Point, S.D. In this story, Union County approves zoning ordinance for Hyperion, we learn that a whopping 58% of voters had enough intact guts left after the traditional anti-oil publicity campaign to still vote for the new zoning, called Energy Center Planned Development.
In a county with a mere 10,000 registered voters, the project will create 4500 construction jobs and then over 1800 full time permanent jobs at between $20 and $30 per hour in pay. It will handle 400,000 barrels a day and help...well, everything but the imaginary carbon problem.

Where do I stand? With the democratic primaries drawing to a conclusion (I think), the time draws near to make my decision. Even today I have on ongoing internal battle over voting for McCain. In my humble opinion he has spent way too much time in the middle compromising. I wish my dream of a true blue conservative would have come true but that is not the way the cookie crumbled. I am left mulling over a so called moderate maverick.
My choice will be to step in the booth and pull the lever for McCain. For me the most important consideration is Supreme Court nominations. Presidents come and go but the judges they choose last well beyond their administrations. Several of the current judges are in failing health and may retire soon. As a country we can not afford to have the highest court in the land take a further turn towards making law. We can not afford justices who believe the Constitution is a living document. We can not afford to have justices who are more than willing to overturn the “will of the people” to further a personal political agenda.
My friends we can not afford to elect Obama (or Clinton) for fear of their nominations. I can assure you any judge they set forward will absolutely support the radical left agenda. We will be staring down the face of having to accept homosexual marriages, radical gun control, limited speech, minority rules and on and on and on. I hope if nothing else this scares you to the booth to vote against a long standing push to the left. We must at all costs protect the Presidency until we have moved the Court back to a group of strict constitutionalists.
I realize that McCain is not many of our first (or even second) choice but we can not let that stand in our way. He is our candidate now and we must insure he is elected. The “religious right” must get off their duffs as they have in the last two elections and protect themselves. If a country allows moral decline they are only a step away from collapse. If the court moves any further to the left we will see the principles of the “Ten Commandments” upon which our laws are founded completely trampled under. I for one will not let this happen. I believe we still have a chance to turn this decline around and my vote against Obama is one of many steps I will take to stop the slide. God Bless America.

If the headline of this article made you, as they say, throw up just a little bit in the back of your throat, then you might be an old-fashioned Republican. You probably believe in partisan politics when the other side is clearly wrong. You might even be so far gone as to see compromising with a liberal as moving half-way in the wrong direction. Well, if this describes you, as it does me, we should be aware that we are as in vogue these days as short-shorts on men.
Yummy.
But this is not about your antiquated wardrobe or the carefully planned erosion of liberty. Nyet, comrade. This is about big ideas. This is about renegade politics. This is about holding hands and unity and butterfly kisses. Remember during the 2004 election how the media opined romantically about the possibility of a Kerry-McCain ticket? Certainly there was some history between the two men that made that a slight possibility, but that was hardly the only reason offered by the media for this same-sex union. McCain was a renegade. A man who flamboyantly flaunted his departures from party lines. He was a reasoned moderate, neither here nor there; not hot, not cold. He was the Dalai Lama of politics. Marrying these two men in unholy matrimony would have brought amazing unity to America, so the liberal pundits said. They would create an unstoppable ticket.
And does this not apply even more today? McCain is just as much a renegade, adopting a platform that is so similar to Obama's that it takes a team of kindergartners playing the "what's different" game to find where they diverge. And Hillary thinks of herself as the Meriwether Lewis of female politicians. That's two great renegades coming together in blissful political union. Plus, she has so many dedicated, disaffected followers that by joining up with McCain she would certainly unify the country and create a winning ticket for November.
Of course, there are downsides. Diehard conservatives all across America are already on suicide watch. And at least half of us would become instant hypocrites. So conditioned to be ashamed of our conservative ideas, we tend to lavish affection on any deserters to our cause. How else do you explain the tingly feeling so many get whenever Bernie Goldberg or Dick Morris get on television? That's right, many a conservative would suddenly feel compelled to adore Hillary Clinton.
And for those of us who could not manage that, we could at least console ourselves that there would be no Obama in the White House--and with complaining every time they moved Hillary to a safe location (kidding).
But we won't hear about the "dream ticket" from the media this time around because now McCain is the Republican nominee and the enemy. We've even had our first celebrity endorsement of leaving Earth if he becomes president. Even as good a story as this would make, it likely won't get put out there because most in the media are, first and foremost, committed to the liberal cause, and for the next few months there will be no room for anything but poking holes in McCain and lavishing Obama with old-fashioned free love. Come to think of it, go ahead and get out those short-shorts. We'll need them to be in style until after the election.

Writing about Obama's recent defection from his church after being Pflegerized, Sowell points out the obvious, which the media nevertheless has missed, "For any politician, what matters is not his election year rhetoric, or an election year resignation from a church, but the track record of that politician in the years before the election."
Let's make something clear. This is a deserving dead horse Sowell is whipping here. That church has been proven to be a consistent source of racial hatred, preaching divisive sermons one after another. I even heard one African American commentator shrug it off the other day by saying (paraphrased), "Well, if you were familiar with the African American experience you wouldn't be so shocked at hearing this." I suppose that's like being familiar with the Hamas movement and not being shocked by suicide bombers. If you're reading this site, I know that you are not likely the type of person who has given Obama a free pass on this, but the mainstream media is ready to move on, and we can't let them.
It is not acceptable to be associated with a church of hate for 20 years and to quit only in the middle of a presidential election. It is not at all okay to surround yourself with hate and then only extricate yourself when the polls say it is time to do so.
This is one dead horse that needs to keep being beaten.

I suppose this is his own way to apply pressure. Truly, he doesn't need to wait for her concession. He just needs to come out and declare himself the victor. Everyone realizes that, by all reasonable standards, he's won the Democratic Party nomination. Clinton's only hope is a massive scandal (see the next post down).
I can only imagine what the Obama camp was thinking as they watched Hillary make her case for being the best candidate only moments before his acceptance speech.
Fresh off of reports that there has been a surge of superdelegates towards Obama today, likely timed to allow him to make a speech at the conclusion of tonight's voting declaring himself the Democratic nominee, we have reports that Clinton will concede the race tonight.
According to Ms. Puerto Rico's senior officials, as soon as Obama reaches the correct number of delegates, Clinton will acknowledge the obvious, though she will continue to speak out on such issues as health care.
According to the article, she's been at home with her husband (that must be uncomfortable) phoning friends and supporters.
update: Clinton has released a statement stating she will not concede tonight and that the AP story is wrong.
Undoubtably, she'll wait until tomorrow. I'm guessing that they just don't want to impact today's voting, so they had to put out something.
update: And now she's conceding again.
